Prior authorization
When a plan requires prior authorization
If a claim is rejected, we contact your office with the plan’s stated requirement and request format. Your office decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information. We check status with the plan and keep the patient informed.
We read the rejection
We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.
We send the plan’s criteria
Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.
We follow it through
We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.
We fill and deliver
Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
Specialties and handling
We fill prescriptions from every specialty. We store and deliver refrigerated medications in temperature-controlled packaging. Some products are limited-distribution or subject to FDA REMS programs. When we can’t dispense a product, we tell the patient and the office promptly so it can be routed to an authorized pharmacy.
