Dermatology prescriptions in Hicksville, NY

Topical prescriptions are often rejected by insurance plans, and biologics for psoriasis or eczema usually need a prior authorization. We work with your dermatologist’s office so you are not stuck in the middle.

Coverage and prior authorization

Many plans require step therapy for dermatology drugs: proof that a lower-cost option was tried first. When a claim is rejected, we identify exactly what the plan needs, send the request to your dermatologist’s office with the plan’s criteria, and follow the request until a decision is issued. If a brand topical isn’t covered, we’ll tell you the cash price and any manufacturer program you may be eligible for before anything is filled.

Some medications, such as isotretinoin, may only be dispensed by pharmacies certified in an FDA Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program. Call us before your appointment and we’ll tell you whether we can fill it or help you find a certified pharmacy.

Questions

My cream was rejected by insurance. What happens next?

We check the rejection code, contact your prescriber’s office with what the plan needs (often a prior authorization or step-therapy documentation), and keep you updated. We can also suggest covered alternatives for your prescriber to consider.

Do you carry self-injectable biologics?

Many self-injectable biologics can be ordered and dispensed by us once your plan approves them. Some are limited-distribution products sent only through designated pharmacies. In that case we’ll tell you up front and help coordinate the transfer.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your dermatology office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
