Coverage and prior authorization

Oral cancer therapies usually need prior authorization and can carry high copays. We work with your oncology office on the authorization and explain the financial-assistance options that may apply. Commercially insured patients may qualify for manufacturer programs. Medicare patients may qualify for independent charitable foundations.

Many oral cancer drugs are limited-distribution. When we can’t dispense one, we’ll help route the prescription to an authorized pharmacy to avoid delays in your treatment.

Questions

Can I use a manufacturer copay card with Medicare?

Usually not. Manufacturer copay cards generally can’t be used for prescriptions paid by Medicare or other federal health programs. Independent charitable foundations may help eligible Medicare patients, and we can point you to them.

What if my medication needs a prior authorization?

We send your oncologist’s office what the plan requires, follow the request until the plan decides, and keep you updated along the way.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your oncology office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
