Ophthalmology prescriptions in Hicksville, NY

Eye drops are small, but the instructions aren’t always simple. We fill prescriptions from ophthalmologists and optometrists, help you make sense of a multi-drop schedule after surgery, and work on coverage for brand glaucoma and dry-eye drops.

Coverage and prior authorization

Brand glaucoma and dry-eye drops often need a prior authorization or step therapy. Plans also limit how soon you can refill a bottle, which can be a problem if drops run out early. We check what your plan allows, tell your eye doctor’s office what the plan needs, and follow it through for you. For post-surgery drops, ask your surgeon to send prescriptions before your procedure so there’s time to sort out any coverage issue.

Using more than one drop? Unless your eye doctor tells you otherwise, wait about five minutes between different drops, don’t let the bottle tip touch your eye, and follow the schedule your surgeon gave you. Our pharmacists can go over it with you.

Questions

My glaucoma drops run out before my plan lets me refill. What can I do?

Tell us. We’ll check your plan’s refill rules and, when needed, contact your eye doctor’s office about the prescribed quantity or a refill override.

Can you help me understand my post-cataract drop schedule?

Yes. Our pharmacists can go over which drop to use when, how long to wait between them and how the schedule tapers, based on your surgeon’s instructions.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your ophthalmology office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
