Coverage and prior authorization

Prescriptions after plastic surgery are usually billed to your prescription plan, even when the procedure itself is cosmetic and paid out of pocket. Plans may limit opioid quantities or prefer certain anti-nausea products. We run the claim before surgery, tell you the copay or our cash price, and work with your surgeon’s office if the plan asks for more information.

Controlled-substance prescriptions must be e-prescribed under New York’s I-STOP law, with limited exceptions, and our pharmacists may consult the Prescription Monitoring Program before dispensing. Ask your surgeon before taking supplements or over-the-counter pain relievers that may increase bleeding.

Questions

Can I pay cash instead of using my insurance?

Yes. We’ll tell you our cash price and your copay so you can choose. Paying cash means the claim isn’t sent to your plan.

Can you fill my prescriptions before my surgery date?

Yes, when your surgeon’s office sends them early. We’ll have them ready for pickup or deliver them free before you go in, so they’re waiting when you get home.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your plastic surgery office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
