Coverage and prior authorization

Brand overactive bladder medications usually require step therapy, and many plans exclude erectile dysfunction medications or limit the quantity. Testosterone typically needs a prior authorization with lab results. We check your plan, tell your urologist’s office what it needs, and tell you our cash price when it may cost less than your copay.

Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance and must be e-prescribed under New York’s I-STOP law, with limited exceptions. Some prostate cancer therapies are limited-distribution; if yours is, we’ll tell you and help coordinate.

Questions

My plan doesn’t cover erectile dysfunction medication. What will it cost?

Call us with the medication, strength and quantity and we’ll tell you our cash price before you decide.

Should I take my prostate medication at bedtime?

Some alpha blockers are taken at bedtime, or after the same meal each day, to reduce dizziness. Follow the label, and ask our pharmacists if you’re unsure.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your urology office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
