Anesthesiology

Anesthesiology prescriptions in Hicksville, NY

After a procedure with anesthesia, you shouldn’t have to wait in line for your prescriptions. We fill post-procedure prescriptions from anesthesiologists and surgical teams, check your coverage, and can deliver them free so you can rest.

Coverage and prior authorization

Most post-procedure medications are covered, but plans may limit the quantity or days’ supply of opioid pain medications and require a prior authorization for brand anti-nausea patches or dissolving tablets. When your care team sends prescriptions before the procedure, we can check coverage early and tell your prescriber’s office what the plan needs.

Under New York’s I-STOP law, controlled substances must be e-prescribed, with limited exceptions, and first-time opioid prescriptions for acute pain are generally limited to a seven-day supply. Our pharmacists may consult the Prescription Monitoring Program before dispensing.

Questions

Can my prescriptions be ready before my procedure?

Often, yes. Ask your care team to e-prescribe to Statmeds before your procedure date, and we’ll check coverage and have them ready for pickup or free delivery.

How should I get rid of leftover pain medication?

Our pharmacists can explain safe disposal options, including drug take-back sites and mail-back envelopes, and what to do at home if no take-back option is nearby.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your anesthesiology office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
