Critical Care

Critical care prescriptions in Hicksville, NY

Leaving the hospital after intensive care often means a long list of new medications. We fill discharge prescriptions from critical care and hospital teams, help you see what was started, stopped or changed, and deliver them free so you or a caregiver can skip the extra stop.

Coverage and prior authorization

Discharge prescriptions can include brand medications your plan doesn’t prefer, or quantities above a plan limit. When a claim is rejected, we tell the discharging team or your follow-up doctor’s office what the plan needs, and we can suggest a covered alternative for them to consider while a decision is pending.

Bring your complete medication list, including what you took before the hospital stay. Our pharmacists can help you see which medications were started, stopped or changed, and flag questions for your doctor.

Questions

Can a caregiver pick up or receive my discharge prescriptions?

Yes. Tell us who will pick up or receive the delivery, and we’ll confirm a time with them. Some controlled medications may need a signature.

Some of my old medications aren’t on my discharge list. Should I keep taking them?

Don’t stop or restart anything on your own. Ask your doctor, and our pharmacists can help you prepare a list of the differences to review together.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your critical care office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
