Transplant prescriptions in Hicksville, NY

After a transplant, immunosuppressant doses can’t be missed. We fill prescriptions from transplant teams, track refill dates closely, try to keep you on the same manufacturer, and coordinate coverage with your transplant coordinator.

Coverage and prior authorization

When Medicare covered your transplant, immunosuppressants are usually billed to Medicare Part B, while other medications go through Part D or your commercial plan. Some plans require a prior authorization or set quantity limits. We check which benefit applies to each medication, bill it there, and work with your transplant coordinator when the plan needs more information.

Switching between generic manufacturers of some immunosuppressants may call for extra monitoring. Tell us your preference and we’ll try to source the same product each fill; your transplant team can also specify it on the prescription. Some transplant medications are limited-distribution, and we’ll tell you if that applies.

Questions

Does Medicare Part B cover my immunosuppressants?

It may, if Medicare covered your transplant. Part B generally pays 80 percent after the deductible, and a supplement or secondary plan may cover some or all of the rest. We’ll check your coverage and explain your cost.

What should I do if I’m running low and my refill isn’t ready?

Call us right away. We’ll check the status, contact your transplant team if a new prescription or authorization is needed, and tell you when it will be ready.

Working with your prescriber

How we work with your transplant office

  1. We read the rejection

We find out why the plan didn’t pay: a prior authorization, step therapy, a quantity limit or a drug that isn’t on the formulary.

  2. We send the plan’s criteria

Your prescriber decides whether to submit a request and provides the clinical information the plan asks for.

  3. We follow it through

We check the status with your plan and keep you updated until there’s a decision.

  4. We fill and deliver

Once it’s approved, we fill your prescription and deliver it, or have it ready for pickup in Hicksville.
